If you’re not familiar with the New York City bar scene, you might expect a bar that shares a name with a U2 album and movie to feature a shrine to Bono and the rest of the band. But Rattle ‘N’ Hum is a craft beer bar and restaurant that emphasizes great beer over rock ‘n’ roll memorabilia. In fact, the only things you’ll find hanging on the have to do with high-quality brews and their breweries.

However if a clueless U2 fan happens to stumble into the bar, they won’t be totally lost. The bar, opened by two Irish brothers, features a suggestion chart on the wall along with their very long list of American craft beers on tap. And as long as they don’t fly in on a busy night, they should be able to get some decent recommendations from the bartenders as well.

Of course, this is good news to anyone who might be a little intimidated by the 40 beers on tap and around 95 bottled options. The true beer geeks even have four cask selections to choose from at their specialized cask bar. Eager beer drinkers will also be enthused by their “Mug Club” deal which offers discounts on 40 featured brews for 30 days. With a motto like “No Crap on Tap,” you can be sure that you’ll only get tasty beers for a full month.

Not ready to commit to a club? Then enjoy the fantastic happy hour, discounting beers by $1 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm and 11:00 am to 4:00 am. With such a fantastic deal in NYC, it might be worth taking a day off from work to partake — or maybe just a long lunch?

Keep in mind, this bar is smack in the middle of Murray Hill which means semi-douchey post-work crowds that will fill the bar to capacity for hours. During those hours, the staff might be a touch short with you due to the fact that they’ve got a lot of beers to serve to a lot of people. So order fast and be prepared to hand over a credit card to keep a tab open.

If you have a chance, visit their blog and vote on your favorite West Coast IPA. Patrick Donagher, co-owner of the bar with his older brother Joe, is reportedly a big fan of the IPA so this poll probably means a lot to him.
